Grammies Cherry Cookies Recipe

I love making quick drop cookies! I tried this recipe last night from my new book "Simple Gifts 50 Little Luxuries to Craft, Sew, Cook & Knit" by Jennifer Worick.

350. 10-15 min. 3 doz

1 C butter, room temp
2 C flour
1 tsp salt
6 Tbls sugar, plus extra to sprinkle on
2 tsp vanilla
1 to 1 1/2 C candied cherries, chopped
1 C chopped nuts

Cream butter & sugar together. Add flour, salt, & vanilla.

With spoon, fold in cherries & nuts.

Drop by spoonful on cookie sheet, flatten with fork, sprinkle with extra sugar ( I used Sparkling sugar ).

Bake until edges begin to brown.

Tip: put nuts in a ziplock baggie and use a rolling pin to break them up

Tip: I always use a cookie scoop to measure drop cookies. That way all the cookies bake evenly.

Cinnamon Roll Cookie Recipe and a Tip!

I originally bought this box mix to make some quick Snicker doodles for Greg.... then I found the recipe for Cinnamon Roll Cookies on the back! (sorry honey!) Wow... these are so good and easy too!
Here's a tip: the directions say roll dough into a 12 X 8 rectangle. I draw the rectangle on parchment paper and roll out to the marks! I also cover the dough with waxed paper to keep it from sticking to the roller.

Frost Warning! Yikes! Here's a tip for tomatoes...

Just came in from wrapping sheet strips around our tomato cages. Since we plant early every year, we always have to deal with frost... so I made strips from sheets I bought at garage sales (cheap). Wrap them around the cage and then lay the end over the top and secure with clothes pins. Super easy to do and easy to store. We even have a little tomato about the size of a marble already!!

Deviled Egg Recipe and a tip!

This is from Paula Dean

Ingredients

7 large eggs, hard boiled and peeled
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
Salt and pepper, for taste
Paprika,Sweet gherkin pickles sliced,Pimentos, olives for garnishing

Directions

Halve 7 eggs lengthwise. Remove yolks and place in a small bowl.

Mash yolks with a fork and stir in mayonnaise, pickle relish, and mustard. Add salt and pepper, to taste.

Fill egg whites evenly with yolk mixture. Garnish

This is good "as is" but I always like to "add my own touch" to stuff. Sometimes I add minced onion, horseradish, or garlic ... you know, kick it up!

Tip: I've found that hot eggs are easier to peel than cold ones. ouch! it's worth it though!

I found this great piece of Tupperware, with the lid even, at a garage sale for a buck!!

Super Easy Hot Cauliflower

I had about a cup of broccoli/cauliflower leftover from supper. I didn't want to throw it away and it wouldn't work with the next nights menu. I had some jalapeno peppers and simply mixed them together and waited about a week. They are a tad mushy, but taste yummy!
